Mr. Lau graduated with a law degree from the University of Hong Kong in 1975. He was admitted a solicitor in Hong Kong in 1978. For the first decade, he mainly practiced as a trial advocate specializing in criminal trials at the District Court level. After this exciting and challenging decade, Mr. Lau changed to work in the field of realty. This deals with the acquisition and disposal of landed properties. Although the scene had changed from the tense court room atmosphere to a more genial office environment, the nature of work undertaken was by no means less exciting and challenging. The most demanding assignment is to acquire building sites for the developers in the urban areas. It involved a large sum of money, very often well over 100 millions, numerous individual owners and hence most diverse and competing interests. The deal has to be completed in the shortest span of time. A slight hitch will bring disaster, million of dollars will become water down the drain.

In order to be successful, you need to construct a shrewd strategy, clock work execution, relentless effort and inexhaustible energy, above all the ability to work a large team of people towards the completion of a most complicated task.

In this way, Mr. Lau managed to acquire four profitable sites for various developers. He is in the boards of a number of reputable listed companies sitting as independent non-executive director. They are tapping into Mr. Lau’s vast experience in law and commerce to contribute to the better development of their respective companies.
